High School and College Career

Gilyard attended The Barstow School in Kansas City, Missouri. Later, he committed to play college basketball for the University of Richmond. He was there from 2017 to 2022.

As of 2024, he is the NCAA Division 1 All-Time Steals Leader. In 2022, he was also given the Senior CLASS Award. Other accolades received include being named the 2020 Atlantic 10 Defensive Player of the Year and the Atlantic 10 Tournament MVP.

Professional Career

Gilyard went undrafted during the 2022 NBA Draft. Later, he signed with the Memphis Hustle of the NBA G League. In 2023, he signed a two-way contract with the Memphis Grizzlies in the NBA, which also kept him on the Hustle’s team.

In 2023, he was the NBA G League Assists Leader. In 2024, he signed to another two-way contract with the Brooklyn Nets of the NBA and the Long Island Nets of the G League.
