Bennett attended Louisville Male High School in Louisville, Kentucky. He played college basketball at the University of Kentucky from 1983 to 1988.He was named a First-team Parade All-American in 1983 and a Third-team Parade All-American in 1982. Bennett helped lead Kentucky to the 1984 NCAA Final Four and the 1986 SEC title.
Professional Career
Bennett was selected by the Cleveland Cavaliers with the 64th overall pick in the third round of the 1988 NBA Draft.He began his professional career with Teorema Arese in Italy and Pensacola Tornados in the Continental Basketball Association. Bennett played in the NBA for the Cleveland Cavaliers from 1989 to 1992 and finished his NBA career with the Miami Heat in 1992.
Coaching Career
Bennett began his coaching career as an assistant at Kentucky from 1995 to 1997 and with the Boston Celtics from 1997 to 1998.He was Head Coach at Kentucky State University from 2000 to 2003, where he won the SIAC championship in 2001. He later served as head coach at Mid-Continent University from 2007 to 2013.
