He went to high school at Palos Verdes High School in Palos Verdes Estates, California. In 1981, he was named a McDonald’s All-American and the Second-team Parade All-American.Later, he committed to play for Oral Roberts University and was there from 1981 to 1985. While there, he was named the 1983 MCC Co-Player of the Year and the MCC Rookie of the Year. Later, Oral Roberts retired jersey number 42 in his honor.
Professional Career
Acres turned pro in 1985 and was selected in the second round of the 1985 NBA Draft, selected by the Dallas Mavericks.He did not immediately join the Mavericks in 1985, instead, he signed for a bit with Divarese Varese in Lombardy, and then he played for Mariuembourg.
He eventually joined the NBA in 1987 and signed with the Boston Celtics. Later, he was transferred to the Orlando Magic. In 1992, he played for the Houston Rockets, and in 1993, he was with the Washington Bullets. Before he retired from basketball, he spent a season playing for Benfica in Portugal.
