High School and College Career
He attended Edmondson High School in Baltimore, Maryland. Later, he played college basketball for Morgan State University and was there from 1971 to 1975.
From 1973 to 1975, he was named the MEAC Player of the Year.
Professional Career
He turned pro in the 1975 NBA Draft, selected in the 1st round as 3rd overall by the Atlanta Hawks. The Hawks traded him to the Denver Nuggets and he played for them from 1975 to 1977.
From 1977 to 1978, he was signed with the Seattle Supersonics. Then from 1978 to 1984, he was with the New York Knicks.
In 1986, he played for the Continental Basketball Association team the Pensacola Tornados. In 1987, he played for the Milwaukee Bucks before he retired.
