Wali Jones is an American former professional basketball player. He played in the National Basketball Association from 1964 to 1976. In 1967, he became an NBA Champion with Philadelphia 76ers.

Walter Jones was born on February 14, 1942, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He stands 188 cm tall and his weight was last listed at 82 kg. He shot right-handed and he was a point guard and shooting guard.

He attended the same high school that Wilt Chamberlain attended.

High School and College Career

He went to Overbrook High School in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Later, he played college basketball for Villanova University and was there from 1961 to 1964.

In 1963 and 1964, he was given the Robert V. Geasy Trophy.

Professional Career

He turned pro during the 1964 NBA Draft, selected in the 3rd round as the 18th overall pick by the Detroit Pistons. The Pistons traded him to the Baltimore Bullets and he played with them from 1964 to 1965.

In 1965, he started playing with the Philadelphia 76ers. He was there from 1965 to 1971. In 1967, he helped his team win the NBA Championship.

From 1971 to 1973, he was signed with the Milwaukee Bucks, and from 1974 to 1975, he played for the American Basketball Association team the Utah Stars. From 1975 to 1976, he played for the Detroit Pistons. He retired in 1976, he was signed with the Philadelphia 76ers at the time.
