Derrick McKey

Derrick McKey is a former professional basketball player in the National Basketball Association. He has played for the Seattle Supersonics, Indiana Pacers, and the Philadelphia 76ers.

High School and College Career

He attended Meridian High School in his hometown of Meridian, Mississippi. Later, he played college basketball for the University of Alabama and was there from 1984 to 1987.

While in University, he was named the 1987 SEC Player of the Year. He was also named to the Third-team All-American – AP, NABC, and Second-team All-American – UPI.

Professional Career

McKey turned pro in 1987, selected in the first round of the NBA Draft by the Seattle Supersonics. In 1988, he was named to the NBA All-Rookie First Team.

From 1993 to 2001, he played for the Indiana Pacers. In that time, he was also named to the NBA All-Defensive Second Team in 1995 and 1996. In 2002, he played for the Philadelphia 76ers before he retired.
