High School and College Career
He attended Coolidge High School in Washington, DC. Later, he played college football for American University from 1970 to 1973. In 1972 and 1973, he was the NCAA Rebounding Leader.
In 1973, he was also named to the Consensus Second-Team All-American.
Professional Career
Washington turned pro in 1973, selected in that year’s NBA Draft by the Los Angeles Lakers. He was there from 1973 to 1977. From 1977-1978, he played for the Boston Celtics, and from 1978 to 1979, he played for the San Diego Clippers.
From 1979, he played for the Portland Trail Blazers. While there, he was named to the NBA All-Defensive Second Team in 1980 and 1981. In 1980, he was also named an NBA All-Star.
In 1987, he played for the Golden State Warriors.
