He is a power forward and center and he shoots right-handed.His parents were originally from the Republic of Congo. They moved to Canada for educational reasons. He is the nephew of Dikembe Mutombo, a Basketball Hall of Famer, who had an 18-year-long career in the NBA.
High School and College Career
He attended Corpus Cristi High School in Burlington, Ontario. Later, he moved to the United States and attended the Bosco Institute in Crown Point, Indiana. For college, he played basketball for the Florida State University.In 2019, he was named the ACC Sixth Man of the Year.
Professional Career
He joined the NBA in 2019 and was a first-round pick by the Brooklyn Nets. They traded him to the Los Angeles Clippers and he played for the team from 2019 to 2021. During that time, he also played for the Agua Caliente Clippers.In 2021, he signed for a short time with the Cleveland Cavaliers. In the next season, he signed with the Rio Grande Valley Vipers.
In 2022, Kabengele signed with the Boston Celtics and he also started playing for the Maine Celtics. In 2022, he became a G League champion. Then in 2023, he was named to the All-NBA G League Second Team and the NBA G League All-Defensive Team.
