Vinnie Johnson is a former professional basketball player in the National Basketball Association. He is a two-time NBA Champion, achieved when he played for the Detroit Pistons. The Pistons later retired Jersey Number 15 in his honor.

High School and College Career
Johnson attended Franklin D. Roosevelt High School. He later played collegiate basketball for the McLennan Community College from 1975 to 1977 before moving to play for Baylor. In 1979, he was named to the Second-team All-American.
Professional Career
Johnson joined the NBA in 1979, selected by the Seattle SuperSonics in the first round as the 7th overall pick. He played with them through to 1981 when he signed with the Detroit Pistons.
In 1989 and 1990, he helped the Pistons win the NBA Championship. In 1991, he signed with the San Antonio Spurs, playing his last NBA season with them.
After he retired, the Pistons also retired Jersey Number 15 in his honor.
