Ron Harper is a former NBA player in the National Basketball Association. He is a five-time NBA Champion and he has played for the Cleveland Cavaliers, Los Angeles Clippers, Chicago Bulls, and Los Angeles Lakers. He was also an assistant coach for the Detroit Pistons.

Ronald Harper was born on January 20, 1964, in Dayton, Ohio in the United States of America. He stands 198 cm tall and his weight was last listed at 97 kg. His sons Ron Harper Jr. and Dylan Harper are also basketball players. He is also the godfather to RJ Hunter.

He is known for his stuttering and he donates his time to the National Stuttering Association.

High School and College Career

Harper attended Kiser High School in his hometown of Dayton, Ohio. He later committed to play for the University of Miami. While in college, he was twice named the MAC Player of the Year and was later named to the Consensus Second-Team All-American.

Professional Career

Harper joined the NBA during the 1986 NBA Draft. He was picked by the Cleveland Cavaliers as the 8th overall pick. In his first year with the team, he was named to the NBA All-Rookie First Team.

He played with the Cavaliers from 1986 to 1989. In 1989, he signed with the Los Angeles Clippers and he played with them through to 1994. In 1994, he signed with the [[Chicago Bulls] and was part of the team that won the NBA Championship in 1996, 1997, and 1998.

In 1999, he moved to play for the Los Angeles Lakers and he won two more NBA Championships with the team. He retired in 2001.

From 2005 to 2007, Harper served as an assistant coach for the Detroit Pistons under head coach Flip Saunders.
