Caldwell Jones was a professional basketball player in the National Basketball Association. He also played in the American Basketball Association where he was named an ABA All-Star in 1975. The last team he played for is the San Antonio Spurs in 1990.

Caldwell "Pops" Jones was born on August 4, 1950, in McGehee, Arkansas in the United States. He died on September 21, 2014, aged 64 in Stockbridge, Georgia also in the United States of America. He stood 211 cm tall and his weight was last listed at 98 kg.He came from a tall family with his father standing 6 feet 3 inches and his mother standing 5 feet 11 inches tall. His other brothers played in the NBA including Wilbert Jones and Charles Jones. His other two brothers also played in minor league basketball.
He attended Desha Central High School in Rohwer, Arkansas. Later, he attended Albany State University from 1969-1973.
Professional Career
Jones was drafted into the NBA in 1973. He was chosen by the Philadelphia 76ers in the second round as the 32nd overall pick. Instead of signing with the 76ers after the draft, he went to play in the ABA for the San Diego Conquistadors/Sails. While with them, he was named an ABA All-Star in 1975.Before joining the ABA, he also played for the Kentucky Colonels. Then for the 1975-1976 season, he played for the Spirit of St Louis. While in the ABA, he was the ABA Blocks Leader in 1974 and 1975.
In 1976, he finally joined the NBA and signed his drafting team. He played for the 76ers until 1982. In 19781, he was named to the NBA All-Star. He would be named an All-Star again in 1982.
After the 76ers, he moved to play for the Houston Rockets. In the 1984-1985 season, he played for the Chicago Bulls. From 1985 to 1989, he played for the Portland Trail Blazers. His last season in the NBA was the 1989-1990 season, in which he played with the San Antonio Spurs.
