Doug Christie is a former professional basketball player in the National Basketball Association. He played in the NBA from 1992 to 2007. His first team was the Los Angeles Lakers and he rounded off his career playing for the Los Angeles Clippers.

High School and College Career
He started playing high school basketball for Mark Morris High School under Coach Dave Denny. Later, he transferred to play for Rainier Beach High School. For college, he committed to play for Pepperdine University and he also studied Sociology.
He was at Pepperdine from 1989 to 1992. While there, he was named the WCC Player of the Year for 1991 and 1992. In the same years, he was named to the First-team All-WCC.
Professional Career
Christie joined the NBA in 1992, picked 17th overall in the first round by the Seattle SuperSonics. Contract difficulties meant that he did not get to play with the SuperSonics, instead, he was traded to the Los Angeles Lakers. He played with the Lakers for a season before he was traded to the New York Knicks.
In 1996, he was traded mid-season to the Toronto Raptors. He stayed with the team through to 2000. In 2000, he was traded to the Sacramento Kings and this is where he found his rhythm. In 2001, he was named to the NBA All-Defensive Second Team. He would be named to the same team again in 2002 and 2004. In 2003, he was named to the NBA All-Defensive First Team.
In 2005, he signed with the Orlando Magic but was released by the team after ankle surgery. In the same year, he signed a one-year deal with the Dallas Mavericks but he struggled with his recovery process.
Christie attempted a comeback in 2007 and signed with the Los Angeles Clippers. After two 10-day contracts, he decided to part ways with the Clippers.
