Bobby Jones is a former professional basketball player in the National Basketball Association. He is an NBA Champion from 1983 when he was playing for the Philadelphia 76ers. He is also a four-time NBA All-Star and he was named to the NBA All-Defensive First Team eight times throughout his NBA career.

While playing College ball, he was named to the Second-team All-ACC in 1973 and the First-team All-ACC in 1974. Also in 74, he was named to the Consensus Second-Team All-ACC.

Professional Career

He started his professional career playing in the American Basketball Association and 1975, he was named to the ABA All-Rookie First Team. That year he was also named to the All-AB All-Defensive First Team. The following year in 1976, he received a number of league accolades including being named an ABA All-Star.

As the Denver Nuggets switched over to the National Basketball Association, he was named an NBA All-Star and to the NBA All-Defensive First Team for the first time in his career.

In 1978, he signed to play with the Philadelphia 76ers. In 1983, he helped the team become NBA Champions. That year, Jones was also named the NBA Sixth Man of the Year. He played with the Nuggets through to 1986 before announcing his retirement from playing professionally.

After his career, he spent time coaching local schools in Charlotte, North Carolina.
