Joe Fulks was an American professional basketball player. He played in the Basketball Association of America for the Philadelphia Warriors, an earlier incarnation of the Golden State Warriors for the National Basketball Association. He was posthumously inducted into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame in 1978.

He played collegiate basketball at Murray State University. His jersey number was later retired by the school in his honor.

Professional Career

He joined the BAA in 1946 when he was 25 years old. In 1947, he became the BAA Scoring Champion. In the same year, he helped lead the Warriors to become BAA Champions. From 1947 to 1949, he was named to the All-BAA First Team.

In the 1950-1951 season with the NBA merger, Fulks led the league in free throw percentage. In 1951 and 1952, he was named an NBA All-Star. Also in 1951, he was named to the All-NBA Second Team.

After he retired from the NBA, he worked at the Kentucky State Penitentiary. In 1978, he was inducted into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame.
