Ryan Arcidiacono is a professional basketball player for the NBA who is currently playing for the New York Knicks as the team’s point guard and shooting guard. He is widely known for his nickname “The Arch of Dimes” as he usually represents Italy in international basketball tournaments. In 2016, he was named Most Outstanding Player in the Big East Conference.

Curran Arcidiacono was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania with his 5 other siblings. His father was once an offensive lineman on a football team in his college days, that’s why Arcidiacono developed an interest in football before basketball.

When he was in high school, he joined Neshaminy High School and was one of the leading players to lead the team to the PIAA Class AAAA tournaments. One of his game highlights is when he scored a triple-double of 26 points with 10 assists and 10 rebounds. He was then included in the Class AAAA second team.

After his successful stint in high school, he joined Villanova University, however, he wasn’t recovered from a back injury he sustained during his last season in high school. He had only contributed 11 points during his college debut against the University of the District of Columbia. By the next game, he pushed himself to score 25 points against the Marshalls and earned the Big East Rookie of the Week award.

During his sophomore season, he focused on improving his shooting mechanics and footwork. He was then included in the All-Big 5 Second Team, as he averaged 9.9 points with 2.4 rebounds and 3.5 assists.

Career

In 2016, he decided to join the NBA Draft, however, he was undrafted. Nevertheless, he joined the San Antonio Spurs for the Summer League. In the same year, he signed with the Spurs but was acquired by the Austin Spurs, a G-League affiliate of the San Antonio Spurs.

By the following year, he joined the Chicago Bulls by signing a two-way contract with them. Throughout the season, he played with the Windy City Bulls and recorded an average of 13.8 points with 8.6 assists and 5 rebounds.

In 2021, he signed with the Boston Celtics but was waived with the Maine Celtics. A few months after, he signed a 10-day contract with the New York Knicks, yet he never appeared in any of their games. In February 2022, he signed with the Knicks.
