Charles Bassey is a professional basketball player in the National Basketball Association. He plays for the San Antonio Spurs. He also used to play for the Philadelphia 76ers and the NBA G League teams – Delaware Blue Coats and the Austin Spurs.

Charles A. Bassey was born in Lagos, Nigeria, where he developed his passion for sports, particularly basketball and soccer.His discovery was rather touching, as he was caught selling fried chicken by the road. Although his first sport was soccer, he had to stop by the time a youth basketball coach discovered his potential in basketball.
High School and College Career
Standing 6 feet and 11 inches at age 14, he moved to the USA to pursue his studies and basketball career in a private school at St. Anthony High School. During his freshman year, he already scored 20.2 points with 17.1 rebounds which moved the team to win the TAPPS title game. He was also crowned Most Valuable Player during the Jordan Brand Classic.Because of his excellent performance, he has been rated a 5-star recruit and became one of the best centers in his batch. In 2018, he committed to play for Western Kentucky University.
In 2019, he was named the Conference USA Freshman of the Year and in 20121, he became the Conference USA Player of the Year.
Professional Career
Bassey joined the 2021 NBA Draft and was the 2nd overall selected by the Philadelphia 76ers. By September of that year, he signed a contract with them.In his time with the 76ers, they also made him play for their G League team, the Delaware Blue Coats. In 2022, he was traded to the San Antonio Spurs and he also played for the G League team, the Austin Spurs.
While in the G League, he was named to the 2022 NBA G League Team, the NBA G League All-Defensive Team, and the NBA G League Second Team.
In 2023, he played in the NBA G League Next Up Game.
