Matthew Mooney is a professional basketball player who is currently playing for Unicaja as the team's shooting guard. Mooney is an undrafted player when he attempted to join the 2019 NBA Draft, yet he secured a contract with the Memphis Hustle, a G-League affiliate of the Memphis Grizzlies.

Mooney was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois with his brother, Joe, who also loves playing basketball. When he was in high school, he attended Notre Dame College Prep, where he was under the coachmanship of Tom Les. However, his career didn't go further as he had only received 2 college athletic scholarship offers. Fortunately, he decided to sign with the Air Force in 2014-15.In 2016, he signed out of the Air Force due to bullying and his struggle to adjust to the discipline of the Air Force. Even in his freshman season, he only recorded 6.9 average points per game.
He eventually transferred to South Dakota, where he found his niche to play basketball. Such a big improvement drastically happened when he scored 18.6 points per game. He was also included in the First-team All-Summit league and was hailed the Newcomer of the Year.
Career
Mooney joined the Atlanta Hawks after going undrafted before he signed with the Memphis Hustle. In 2020, he signed a 2-way contract with the Cleveland Cavaliers' G-League affiliate, the Canton Charge. By the end of the year, he was waived by the Cavaliers and he joined the Raptors 905.Career Highlights
