James David Bouknight was born on September 18, 2000, in Brooklyn, New York. He stands 193 cm tall and his weight was last listed at 86 kg. He is right-handed and he is a shooting guard and power forward.

In 2022, he was arrested for driving while intoxicated. Prior to this, he has also incurred multiple offenses for speeding and reckless driving.

High School and College Career

He attended La Salle Academy in Manhattan, New York. Later, he transferred to MacDuffie School in Granby, Massachusetts.

In 2019, he committed to play college basketball for the University of Connecticut and was there from 2019 to 2021. In that time, he was named to the 2021 First-team All-Big East. In 2020, he was also named to the ACC All-Freshman Team and the Third-team All-ACC.

Professional Career

In 2021, he became a pro and was drafted into the NBA during the 2021 NBA Draft. He was a first-round pick of that year’s draft, chosen 11th overall by the Charlotte Hornets.

He signed with the Hornets in August 2021 and made his NBA debut in October of that year. From 2021 to 2023, he also played with the Greensboro Swarm.
