Tyus Jones

Tyus Jones is an American professional basketball player for the Washington Wizards of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He has also played for the Minnesota Timberwolves and the Memphis Grizzlies.

Tyus Robert Jones was born on May 10, 1996, in Burnsville, Minnesota, United States of America. He stands 185 cm tall and his weight is listed at 89 kg. Jones plays right-handed. He is a point guard.

Jones is the older brother of NBA player Tre Jones. Their parents are Rob and Debbie Jones. Jones' aunt Darcy Cascaes is the athletic director at DeLaSalle High School in Minneapolis.

High School and College Career

Jones attended Apple Valley High School in Apple Valley, Minnesota. Later, he attended Duke University and was there from 2014 to 2015.

In 2014, he was named Minnesota Mr. Basketball and he was also named a McDonald’s All-American. In 2015, he helped lead Duke to the NCAA Championship. That year, he was also named the NCAA Final Four Most Outstanding Player.

Professional Career

Jones was selected by the Cleveland Cavaliers with the 24th overall pick in the 2015 NBA Draft. He was traded on draft night to his hometown Minnesota Timberwolves.

Jones played his first four NBA seasons with the Timberwolves from 2015 to 2019.

In July 2019, Jones signed a three-year contract with the Memphis Grizzlies. He spent four seasons in Memphis from 2019 to 2023, serving as a key backup to Ja Morant.

In June 2023, Jones was traded to the Washington Wizards. As of 2024, he still plays for the Wizards.
