Mike Barr

Mike Barr is a former American professional basketball player who played in both the American Basketball Association (ABA) and National Basketball Association (NBA). He is known for his time with the Virginia Squires and Spirits of St. Louis in the ABA.

High School and College Career

He attended Lehman High School in Canton, Ohio. Later, Barr played college basketball for Duquesne University from 1968 to 1972.

Professional Career

Barr's professional basketball journey began in 1972 when he was selected by the Chicago Bulls in the 13th round of the NBA draft as the 180th overall pick. Despite this late selection, Barr never played for the Bulls. Instead, he found his footing in the American Basketball Association (ABA), where he began his professional career.

Barr, a guard who wore number 34, started his playing career with the Virginia Squires of the ABA in 1972.

He spent two seasons with the Squires before moving to another ABA team, the Spirits of St. Louis, where he played from 1974 to 1976. The years in the ABA allowed Barr to establish himself as a professional player and gain valuable experience.

Following the ABA-NBA merger in 1976, Barr transitioned to the NBA, joining the Kansas City Kings for the 1976-1977 season.

His professional career concluded in 1978 with a stint playing for the West Virginia Wheels.
