Jim Barnett is a former American professional basketball player who played 11 seasons in the National Basketball Association. He is best known for his long-standing career as a broadcaster for the Golden State Warriors, a role he held from 1985 to 2019.

Barnett attended Ramona High School in Riverside, California. He then played college basketball for the University of Oregon from 1963 to 1966.

In 1965, he was named to the Second-team All-AAWU and the following year, he was named to the First-team All-AAWU.

Professional Career

Barnett was selected by the Boston Celtics with the 8th overall pick in the 1966 NBA Draft. He played for seven different NBA teams over his 11-year career.

He played for the San Diego Rockets from 1967 to 1970. He also played for a year for the Portland Trail Blazers, and he was with the Golden State Warriors from 1971 until 1974. Other teams he played with are New Orleans Jazz, New York Knicks and the Philadelphia 76ers.

Known for his energetic style of play, Barnett earned the nickname "Crazy Horse". He played alongside several NBA legends, including Bill Russell, John Havlicek, Rick Barry, and Pete Maravich.

Broadcasting Career

After retiring as a player, Barnett transitioned into broadcasting. He became the TV analyst for the Golden State Warriors in 1985, a role he held for 34 seasons until 2019.

He then moved to radio, becoming the Warriors' radio analyst, a position he continues to hold.
