They later traded him to the Utah Jazz for Tyler Lyndon and Trey Lyles. In July of that year, he signed a contract with the Jazz and he debuted with the Jazz in October of that year.

He signed a shoe deal with Adidas early in his career. In 2018, he was named to the NBA All-Rookie First Team. That year, he also won the NBA Slam Dunk Contest. While a rookie, he set a record for scoring when he made 41 points in a game against the New Orleans Pelicans in December 2017.

He was named an NBA All-Star for the first time in 2020. Also in that year, he tested positive for COVID-19. It was also in 2020 that he joined Allen Iverson and Michael Jordan as players who were able to score more than 50 points in a playoff series. The Jazz extended his contract in 2020.

He was again named an NBA All-Star in 2021 and again in 2022. In 2023, he was named an All-Star for the fourth time in his career.
