Nate Archibald is a former professional basketball player from the United States of America. He played in the National Basketball Association for the then-Cincinnati Royals, the New York Knicks, the Boston Celtics, and the Milwaukee Bucks.

In 1981, he helped lead the Celtics to win the NBA Championship. He was also named an NBA All-Star six times and in 1981, he was named the NBA All-Star Game MVP.

High School and College Career

Nate Archibald did his schooling at the DeWitt Clinton High School in the Bronx, New York.

He later attended the University of Texas at El Paso where played for the college basketball team called the Miners from 1967 to 1970.

Professional Career

In 1970, Archibald was drafted into the NBA by the then-Cincinnati Royals who are now called the Sacramento Kings.

After playing with the Royals and recording 34.0 points per game, the highest in the time by a guard, Archibald was traded to the New York Nets in 1976.

The following season, he was traded to the Buffalo Braves. After an injury to the Achilles tendon and not been able to play a single game for the Braves, Archibald was traded to Boston Celtics.

In 1980, Archibald went on to win the NBA Championship with the Celtics. In 1983, he was traded to the Milwaukee Bucks with whom he played for a year, and retired in 1984.

In a total of 876 games that he played in the NBA, Archibald averaged 18.8 points per game, 7.4 assists per game, and 1.1 steals per game.

He was named to the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame as a player in 1991 and the College Basketball Hall of Fame in 2006.
