He attended Brother Rice High School in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. Later, he committed to play college basketball for the University of Iowa and he was there from 1985 to 1989.

Professional Career

Armstrong turned pro in 1989 and was selected in the 1st round by the Chicago Bulls, 18th overall. He played for the Bulls from 1989 to 1995. He was part of the Bulls team that won the NBA Championships three times in 1991, 1992, and 1993. In 1994, he was named an NBA All-Star.

From 1995 to 1997, he played for the Golden State Warriors, and from 1997 to 1999, he was with the Charlotte Hornets. For a short time in 1999, he was signed with the Orlando Magic and before he retired in 2000, he returned to the Bulls.

In his NBA career, he logged a total of 7,320 points, 1,321 rebounds, and 2,479 assists.

For a short time after he retired, he was a special assistant to the Chicago Bulls Vice President of Basketball Operations Jerry Krause.
