Skylar Mays is a professional basketball player from the United States of America. He plays in the National Basketball Association. As of 2024, he plays for the Los Angeles Lakers, as well as the South Bay Lakers.

Skylar Justin Mays was born on September 5, 1997, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana in the United States of America. He is a right-handed player. He plays a Shooting Guard and a Point Guard. He stands 193 cm tall and his weight was last listed at 92 kg.

His LSU teammate and best friend Wayde Sims, was killed by a gunshot in September 2018. He served as pallbearer during Sims’ funeral.

High School and College Career

He attended University High School in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Later, he transferred to Findlay Prep in Henderson, Nevada. He then committed to play college basketball for Louisiana State University and was there from 2016 to 2020.

In 2018, he was named to the Second-team Academic All-American. Then in 2019, he was named to the Second-team All-SEC, and in 2020, he was named to the First-team All-SEC.

Professional Career

Mays turned pro in 2020. He was selected in the 2nd round, 50th overall of the 2020 NBA Draft, picked by the Atlanta Hawks.

He signed a two-way contract with the Hawks’ NBA G League affiliate team, the College Park Skyhawks. Then from 2022 to 2023, he played for the Delaware Blue Coats.

In 2023, he signed for a short time with the Capitanes de Cuidad de Mexico. From 2023 to 2024, he was signed with the Portland Trail Blazers.

In 2024, he signed a two-way contract with the Los Angeles Lakers and the South Bay Lakers in the NBA G League.
