A graduate of the McEachern High School, Morris Almond is an American citizen who is, today, a professional basketball player in the NBA. A former teammate of Josh Smith, from high school, Almond went on to play college basketball for Rice University.

With the Owls at Rice University, Almond struggled to make a mark in the first two seasons however, his junior year saw him jump to 21.9 points in scoring average after just a 7.2 average in his sophomore year. Almond led the Conference USA in points per game that season.

Almond was tempted to leave the final year of college after his rapid rise however, he decided to stay for his senior year and ended up increasing his scoring per game to 26.4 points. His third ranked scoring average was good enough to win him the Conference USA Player of the Year award while winning him an AP All-American Honourable mention.

Almond was picked at 25th overall by the Utah Jazz in the first round of the 2007 NBA Draft.

His rookie season went by without much action as Almond was used only for about 4.3 minutes per game in just 9 games. Most of Almond's endeavours have been with the NBA-Developmental League affiliates, the Utah Flash. In 2008, Almond led the D-League in terms of points per game, with 25.6 points.
