Desmond Bane is a professional basketball player from the United States of America. He plays in the National Basketball Association (NBA) for the Memphis Grizzlies.
He was drafted into the NBA by the Boston Celtics in 2020 and was later traded to the Grizzlies. He attended college at the Texas Christian University. In his rookie year with the NBA, he was named to the NBA All-Rookie Second Team.

High School and College Career
He attended Shelton Catholic High School where he played basketball under the coaching of Josh Jurgens. He averaged 30 points a game in his senior year and was later named the Wettig Memorial Holiday Tournament MVP. He later committed to playing for the Texas Christian University (TCU).He played for the TCU Horned Frogs and was given Big 12 Newcomer of the Week honors. He was also named to the First-team All-Big 12 in 2020. The year before that, he was named to the Second-team All-Big 12 team.
Professional Career
Bane declared for the NBA in 2020. He was selected by the Boston Celtics during the 2020 NBA Draft. He was picked in the first round. He was the first TCU player to have been drafted into the NBA during the first round since the 90s.He was later traded to the Memphis Grizzlies. During his Rookie Year, he was named to the NBA All-Rookie Second Team.
In 2023, he signed a contract extension deal with the Grizzlies, the largest in the history of the franchise at US$207 million. The contract will see him with the team for five more years.
