Daishen Nix is an American basketball player who played for the Houston Rockets and its NBA G League affiliate, the Rio Grande Valley Vipers. Nix was born in Fairbanks, Alaska before moving into Las Vegas, Nevada to learn more about basketball and to get closer with his extended family. He plays as the team’s point guard.

Early Life as a Non-Professional Player

Nix attended the Trinity International School when he and his family decided to move to Las Vegas, Nevada. His biggest influence was his mother, Mina Tupuola, who was a varsity basketball player at the University of Alaska Fairbanks.

When he was in his junior year, he had an average of 19.9 points with 5.1 assists and 6.2 rebounds per game, making him a key player to reach their second National Christian School Athletic Association (NCSAA) Division I title. At the same time, he was awarded the NCSAA Player of the Year.

When he was in college at the University of California, Los Angeles, he was basketball varsity and he signed the National Letter of Intent to play with the UCLA Bruins. By the following year, he decided to join the NBA G League Ignite.

Life at the NBA

Nix started his professional career with NBA G League Ignite in April 2020, so he could get ready for the 2021 NBA Draft. During his stay with the Ignite, he made a record of 8.8 points with 5.3 assists and 5.3 rebounds per game.

By the following year, he decided to finally join the 2021 NBA Draft but was undrafted. However, he joined the Philadelphia 76ers in the 2021 NBA Summer League before signing with the Houston Rockets and the Rio Grande Valley Vipers.
