High School and College Career
Petrušev moved to the United States to play high school basketball. He attended Avon Old Farms High School in Avon, Connecticut. Later, he also attended Montverde Academy in Montverde, Florida. For college, he committed to play college basketball for Gonzaga University and was there from 2018 to 2020.
In 2019, he was named to the WCC All-Freshman Team. He was also named the 2020 WCC Player of the Year.
Professional Career
Petrušev started his professional career playing for Mega Basket in his home country of Serbia. Later, he signed with Anadolu Efes and in 2022, he started playing for Crvena Zvezda.
He was drafted into the National Basketball Association in 2021. He was a second-round pick, selected by the Philadelphia 76ers. He would end up playing in the NBA for just a short time. He played only played one game with the 76ers.
In November 2023, he was acquired by the Los Angeles Clippers. They then traded him to the Sacramento Kings who would then go on to waive him.
In November of that year, he returned to Europe and signed a three-year deal with the Olympiacos in Greece.
