He attended Prep Charter in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He would later transfer to APEX Academy in Pennsauken, New Jersey.For college, he committed to play for the University of Kansas and was there from 2008 to 2011. In 2009, he was named to the Big 12 All-Rookie Team and in 2011, he was named the Big 12 Player of the Year.
The Kansas Jayhawks would later jersey number 22 in his honor.
Professional Career
Morris was a first-round pick during the 2011 NBA Draft. The Houston Rockets selected him 14th overall. They would later sign him and he would play for the team from 2011 to 2023. In that time, he also played for their NBA G League affiliate team, the Rio Grande Valley Vipers.From 2013 to 2015, he played for the Phoenix Suns, and from 2015 to 2017, he was a part of the Detroit Pistons team. From 2017 to 2019, he played for the Boston Celtics, and from 2019 to 2020, he played for the New York Knicks.
In 2020, he started playing for the Los Angeles Clippers, and in 2023, he signed with the Philadelphia 76ers.
