Precious Achiuwa

Precious Achiuwa is a Nigerian professional basketball player. He was drafted into the National Basketball Association by the Miami Heat. As of 2024, he plays for the New York Knicks.

Precious Ezinna Achiuwa was born on September 19, 1999, in Port Harcourt, Nigeria. He stands 203 cm tall and his weight was last listed at 102 kg. Achiuwa is a right-handed player. He plays Center and Power Forward.

His older brother God'sgift Achiuwa also played basketball for St. John’s University.

High School and College Career

Achiuwa attended Our Saviour Lutheran School in The Bronx, New York before transferring to St. Benedict's Prep in Newark, New Jersey. He finished his high school career at Montverde Academy in Montverde, Florida.

In 2019, he was named a McDonald's All-American.

He committed to play college basketball for the University of Memphis, playing for the Tigers in the 2019-20 season.

In 2020, Achiuwa was named the AAC Player of the Year, and AAC Freshman of the Year, and was selected to the First-team All-AAC.

Professional Career

Achiuwa turned pro in 2020. He was selected in the 1st round as the 20th overall pick of the 2020 NBA Draft by the Miami Heat. He played for the Heat in the 2020-21 season.

In 2021, Achiuwa was traded to the Toronto Raptors where he played for two seasons from 2021 to 2023.

In 2023, he was traded again, this time to the New York Knicks. As of 2024, Achiuwa still plays for the Knicks.
