Born in St. Louis, Missouri, Matthew Alexander Aitch was an American Basketball player. Prior to being drafted in NBA, Matt Aitch played for Michigan State University. At a young age, Aitch loves to play basketball. It can be shown with how good he plays the sport. Before he was recruited to play for Moberly Junior College, he was already a star player in his hometown. Cotton Fitzsimmons out of Maplewood-Richmond Heights High School to play for Moberly Junior College recruited him. For two years, Aitch played outstandingly and was recognized as a basketball for two years. He was then recruited to play for Michigan State University.

Along with Matt Aitch, another teammate at Moberly, Shannon Reading was recruited at MSU. They played two seasons for the Spartans. During his MSU Days, Aitch was the team captain of the Michigan State University (MSU) Men’s Basketball team. Under his captainship, his team won the Big Ten Championship.

In 1967 he was drafted in the NBA, round 13, pick 135th overall for Detroit Pistons. However, that same year, Detroit Pistons renounced their draft rights. Indian Pacers then chose him for 1967-1968 NBA Season as a Forward position player with the number 45. By 1968, Matt Aitch left the game of basketball and decided to pursue other opportunities.

Not only do Matt Aitch an excellent basketball player, but he has good education standing as well. He earned his Masters in Education from Michigan State University. Upon his graduation, Aitch was offered the role of an assistant coach for MSU. He was a known recruiter for the sports program. Aitch also served as a minor recruiter for the schools MSU and Central Michigan University. Later, he worked in Meijers Distribution Center as part of their management.

As a person, Matt Aitch is an outdoorsman. He loves to go hunting and fishing. Aitch enjoys spending time with family. Aside from loving outdoor activities, one of his favorite hobbies is coin collecting. Aitch lived a full life with his wife, Karen, their two (2) children, and two (2) grandchildren before passing away on April 4, 2007, at Lansing, Michigan. He died at the age of 62.
