Al-Farouq Ajiede Aminu is a Chicago Bulls National Basketball Association Nigerian-American, professional basketball player. He plays for Nigeria's national basketball team internationally. In 2010 Aminu was chosen for the eighth overall selection by the Los Angeles Clipper and the New Orleans Pelicans, Dallas Mavericks, Portland Trail Blazers, and the Orlando Magic.
Aminu attended high school in Norcross and was one of the nation's best recruits from the 2008 batch. Rival.com rated him #7, and Scout.com ranked him #13. Aminu went from the Wesleyan School but was deemed unacceptable and had to spend his sophomore year on Norcross's JV squad. Norcross has been recorded 30–3 times and national grade #12 by Aminu and teammate Gani Lawal in his junior year. In his junior year, Aminu averaged 13.7 points and 9.5 rebounds per game. In 2007 and 2008, he guided Norcross to back Georgia's 5A national championships.
Aminu signed a Letter of Intent to Play Basketball at Wake Forest in July 2007 and November 2007. Over Georgia Tech, he selected Wake Forest. As a rookie in the 2008-2009 season of the ACC All-Freshman team, he was the consensus. Aminu posted ten twice a year, of which five were in conference play. With 8.3 rebounds per game, He led all the freshmen and placed sixth in the ACC. In all league rookies, Aminu also ranked second with 13.0 points per contest.
On November 11, 2016, Aminu was excluded for a couple of weeks, having suffered a calf injury during the first eight games of the 2016-17 season at Trail Blazers. On December 5, after missing 13 matches, he returned to play, and in 17 minutes, he had three points against the Bulls of Chicago. Later in mid-December, he missed four games with back pain. He scored 26 points for the Boston Celtics on February 9, 2017, with a 120–111 defeat. In November 2017, Aminu missed 13 games with a right ankle injury. In an overtime victory against the Chicago Bulls of 124–120, he posted a season-high of 24 points on January 1, 2018. In exchange for Wendell Carter Jr., Otto Porter, and two potential first-round picks, on March 25, 2021, Aminu and Nikola Vučević are dealt with by Chicago Bulls.
