Angel McCoughtry is a former WNBA player who once played for the Minnesota Lynx as the team’s forward player. She is known for being a two-time Olympic gold medalist and a peak performer in the 2012-2013 WNBA.

Angel Lajuane McCoughtry was born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland. At a young age, she learned how to play basketball and became a star player for St. Frances Academy and The Patterson School. After high school, she entered the University of Louisville to play for the basketball varsity team. She became one of the key players to lead UL to win the Big East Conference and she also won the Big East Player of the Year.
McCoughtry has been an active advocate for children from small countries to play basketball. In 2019, she hosted a basketball camp in Ghana.

Career
After college, she joined the 2009 WNBA Draft where she was selected 1st overall by the Atlanta Dream. Upon joining, she ensured herself to be a competent player and a significant scorer to the team. During her rookie season, she won Rookie of the Year with 12.8 points per game.
In her second season, her gameplay started to improve even more, as her average went up to 21.1 points per game. She was also one of the key players who led the team to advance in the WNBA Finals against the Seattle Storm.
In 2012, she was unfortunately suspended by her team without publicly disclosing the reason. Even so, she still managed to score 21.4 points per game with 2.5 steals. She also managed to play during the playoffs after the expiration of her suspension. By the following year, she resigned from another contract with the Dream.
Apart from the WNBA, she was selected to play for the FIBA World Championship in 2010 and the Olympics in 2012. She was also invited to play in the Ekaterinburg International Invitational Tournament for Team USA and World Championships.
