Kristi Toliver is a professional basketball player for the Los Angeles Sparks in WNBA, and is currently an assistant coach of the Dallas Mavericks. Toliver was born and raised in Virginia, where she learned to play basketball. As a child, she was coached by her father who was formerly an NBA referee.

Kristi Renee Toliver was admitted to Harrisonburg High School, where she joined the basketball team. Because of her high-skilled performance, she was able to win the Virginia State Gatorade Player of the Year and Virginia Ms. Basketball.She also landed a collegiate career when she entered the University of Maryland. Toliver is one of the leading scorers on the team and made UM win its first national championship in 2006.
Career
Toliver joined the 2009 WNBA Draft and she was the third pick by the Chicago Sky. During her rookie season, she was able to make 7.6 points per game on average. By the following year, she signed with the Los Angeles Sparks, where she became the backup point guard. She played 34 games throughout the season and recorded 8.6 points per game on average.In 2012, she was awarded the WNBA Most Improved Player award and the Western Conference Player of the Month after reaching 17.5 points per game. They have reached the finals but were swept off by the Minnesota Lynx. Once again, she signed another contract with the Sparks after her rookie contract expired. During this season, she was included in the WNBA All-Star for the first time.
In 2017, she switched to sign a contract with the Washington Mystics and debuted with a score of 8 points with 4 assists. Eventually, she gained the point guard position after her teammates, Elena Delle Donne and Tayler Hill had incurred injuries. She managed to carry the team with a season-high 29 points with 7 three-pointers. In 2021, she has sign with the Los Angeles Sparks.
In 2020, she became an assistant coach to Washington Wizards and in 2021, she signed a contract with the Dallas Mavericks as an assistant coach.
