Robert Covington is an American professional basketball player. He plays in the National Basketball Association for the Philadelphia 76ers.
He has also played for the Houston Rockets, Los Angeles Clippers, Houston Rockets, Philadelphia 76ers, and the Minnesota Timberwolves. Early in his career, he also played in the then-NBA D League for the Rio Grande Valley Vipers. While in the G League, he was named the 2014 NBA D League All-Star and the NBA D League All-Star Game MVP.

High School and College Career
Covington attended the Proviso West High School, where he was named an All-Conference first-team honoree and the West Suburban Conference Player of the Year in his senior year.
He later committed to play for the Tennessee State University and was there from 2009 to 2013. While there, he was named to the First-team All-OVC.
Professional Career
Covington went undrafted in the 2013 NBA draft but later on signed a deal with the Houston Rockets after he played for the franchise for the 2013 NBA Summer League.
He played with the Rio Grande Valley Vipers for most of the season. Covington was also named the Rookie of the Year of the then-NBA D-League, now the NBA G League.
He transferred to the Philadelphia 76ers on November 15, 2014.
His game began to improve in the 2015 to 2016 Season and he was a leader in the NBA with 3.6 steals per game. Covington also became the first player to achieve more than six steals in a game since Covington’s 1986 record. He was traded to the Minnesota Timberwolves on November 12, 2018. He debuted a few days later.
In April 2019, he underwent surgery on his right knee. In February 2020, he played for the Houston Rockets for a short while before he was traded to the Portland Trail Blazers. In 2022, he was traded again, this time to the Los Angeles Clippers. In April 2022, he logged a career-high of 43 points.
In 2023, he signed with the Philadelphia 76ers.
