Avery Antonio Bradley Jr. is an American professional basketball player in the NBA. He is currently playing in the shooting guard position for the Los Angeles Lakers.
Bradley attended Findlay College Prep during high school. He led the team to the National High School Basketball championship and was recognized as one of the top players in 2009. Bradley went on to college at the University of Texas – Austin where he reaped honors as one of the best defensive guards.
In the 2010 NBA draft, Bradley was selected by the Boston Celtics. However, he missed the first 13 games as he went through ankle surgery. He was reassigned to the Maine Red Claws of the NBA Developmental League. After a spinal cord injury, he joined the Celtics once again.
During the NBA lockout, he played with the Hapoel Jerusalem of the Israeli Basketball Premier League. Back with the Celtics, he gained more time on court when Ray Allen was injured. While he was gaining recognition for his exceptional blocks, he again suffered from an injury during the NBA playoffs in 2012.
Bradley wasn’t able to play for most of the 2012 to 2013 Season. In the following season, Bradley became the Celtics’ starting point guard before becoming the team’s shooting guard. While he was sidetracked with an ankle injury for several weeks, he still remained as one of the team’s consistent players.
In the 2014 to 2015 Season, Bradley signed another contract with the Celtics. His performance as a shooter was steady and his defensive skills were solid as a shooting guard. During the 2015 to 2016 Season, he executed an exceptional dunk on Kawhi Leonard, the Defensive Player of the Year.
In the following season, Bradley continued to excel in the three-point range and his rebounding also improved. The Celtics became the number 1 seed in the Eastern Conference playoffs. He was traded to the Detroit Pistons on July 7, 2017 and was traded again to the Los Angeles Clippers on January 29, 2018.
