Hassan went to the Westchester High School and later attended college at the University of Arizona. He played with the college team, Arizona Wildcats, from 2002 to 2006. In 2006, Adams got into trouble when he was caught driving under the influence of alcohol and missed his appearance in what could have been his third Pacific 10 tournament.
In 2006, Hassan was drafted by the New Jersey Nets and started in eight games and scored 16 points, his career best in a game. After he was waived by the Nets in 2007, Hassan tried to work out with the Cleveland Cavaliers who ultimately waived him in October 2007.
In November 2007, Hassan signed with the Basket Draghi Novara club in the Italian League.
In 2008, Hassan got into a two year contract with the Toronto Raptors.
