Kelly Mazzante is a former professional basketball player from the United States, renowned for her exceptional scoring ability and her notable achievements in both college and professional leagues. Born on February 2, 1982, in Montoursville, Pennsylvania, Mazzante made an indelible mark on the sport during her career.

High School Career

Mazzante attended Montoursville High School, where she established herself as a basketball prodigy. She amassed over 3,000 points during her high school career, earning recognition as the third leading scorer in Pennsylvania girls' basketball history. Her impressive performance laid the foundation for her future success at the collegiate level.

College Achievements

Continuing her basketball journey, Mazzante played for the Pennsylvania State University Lady Lions from 2001 to 2004. Her senior year saw her lead the team to the elite eight of the NCAA tournament, narrowly missing out against the eventual champions, Connecticut. Over her college career, she became the all-time leading scorer in the Big Ten Conference with 2,919 points and set multiple conference records, including the most field goals and three-point field goals. Mazzante was recognized as a Kodak All-American three times and had her jersey, number 13, retired by Penn State in 2004.

WNBA Journey

Mazzante was selected in the second round of the 2004 WNBA Draft by the Charlotte Sting, where she played for three seasons. Following the team's folding in 2007, she was picked up by the Phoenix Mercury in the dispersal draft. Mazzante played a crucial role in the Mercury's success, helping them clinch the 2007 WNBA Finals title.
