Kristin Haynie was born on June 17, 1983. She is the daughter of Larry and Debbie Haynie. She is a professional American basketball player in the WNBA for the team of Washington Mystics.

Keistin was a four-year varsity starter in basketball at Mason High School. She averaged 21.3 points, 7.5 rebounds, 5.5 assists and 6.1 steals as a senior. She was named the State of Michigan Gatorade Player of the Year and was runner-up for Miss Michigan Basketball, among a host of other accolades. Kristin was also an All-State soccer player.

Kristin had to audition twice before she was offered a scholarship to play for the Michigan State University Spartans. During Kristin's senior year, the Spartans had a 33-4 season, and eventually went to the National Championship game, for the first time in schoool history. They lost to Baylor.

Kristin was drafted by the Sacramento Monarchs as their ninth overall pick in the 2005 WNBA draft. The Monarchs won the 2005 WNBA Championship in her rookie year. She is the only player, to have played in the NCAA finals as well as the WNBA finals in the same year (to date). On February 6, 2008, she got selected by the Atlanta Dream.

Haynie also played in Greece for Paleo Faliro in 2008-09 WNBA off-season. Presently, she is playing for the Minnesota Lynx team. She received the MSU all-time career leader award for her 574 assists.
