Jamal Mashburn is an American entrepreneur and former professional basketball player who played twelve seasons in the National Basketball Association. Teams he has played include the Dallas Mavericks, Miami Heat, Charlotte Hornets, and New Orleans Hornets.

Mashburn attended Cardinal Hayes High School in The Bronx, New York, where he was named Mr. New York Basketball and a Second-team Parade All-American in 1990.

He then played college basketball at the University of Kentucky from 1990 to 1993, where he was named a Consensus first-team All-American, SEC Player of the Year, and SEC Athlete of the Year in 1993.

Professional Career

Selected 4th overall by the Dallas Mavericks in the 1993 NBA Draft, Mashburn spent his first four seasons with the team before being traded to the Miami Heat in February 1997.

He later played for the Charlotte Hornets and New Orleans Hornets, when the franchise relocated. He retired from professional basketball in 2005.

After retiring from basketball, Mashburn has become a successful entrepreneur.
