As far as the two early games go, the Atlanta Dream remain winless, losing to the Washington Mystics 72-61. As usual, the Dream were able to keep it close for 3 quarters, and then just ran out of steam during the fourth.

Alana Beard scored 18 points – all in the second half – for the Mystics. Monique Currie added 17 points and eight rebounds.

For the Dream, Betty Lennox, scored 18 points, and Ivory Latta poured in 16, including three 3-pointers.

In the second early game, the Minnesota Lynx lost a heart-breaker to the Detroit Shock. They had a 3-point lead with 4 seconds at the end of the game…but the Shock were able to tie it, and won it in overtime.

For the Shock, Deanna Nolan scored a franchise-record 44 points, including 28 in the fourth quarter and overtime.

Seimone Augustus had 26 points for the Lynx.
