In a meeting between the teams with the top two records, the Connecticut Sun at 7-1 and the Minnesota Lynx at 6-1. the Sun proved to be victorious.

It was a bittersweet homecoming for Lindsay Whalen, the Minnesota Golden Gopher star who was drafted by the Connecticut Sun in the 2004 WNBA draft. Whalen is still the Gopher’s leading scorer and was a fan favorite.

Lynx rookie guard Candice Wiggins tied her career-high with 22 points for Minnesota, however her fellow rookie Charde Houston did not do so well - only 3 for 11. Seimone Augustus had a poor shooting night as well (4-13) with only 11 points scored. Defensive standout Nicky Anosike also had a poor shooting night - only 2-11.

Indeed - it was poor shooting on the Lynx’ part that defeated them tonight. Whether that was due to the Sun’s defense or the nerves of the Lynx is a matter for debate.
