Paul Pierce had been average in the NBA Finals until Sunday’s game 5. Pierce scored 27 points in game 5, and scored in a variety of ways, whenever and however he wanted.
Ron Artest, known for his defensive prowess, was supposed to be the shutdown defender for the Lakers in the NBA Finals.
However Paul Pierce responded to the pressure in game five scoring with his excellent step back jump shot, and his strong drives to the basket.
Pierce is the ultimate scorer, he is not the quickest player, but his strength and shot fakes allow him to score at will.
Pierce can score in any way, including the three point shot, which is an underrated area for him. At the 2010 All-Star game in Dallas this past February, Pierce won the 3-pt Shooting Contest.
Paul knows his legacy among Celtics’ legends will be cemented with another championship, and he is determined to earn his place amongst the greatest.
