The most valuable player to a team does not always score the most points, or grab the most rebounds. He provides the necessary skills and intensity to push the team to victory.
Last night in game 4 of the NBA Finals, Glen “Big Baby” Davis established himself as the Celtics MVP through 4 games of the Finals.
His constant energy and hustle killed the Lakers. The Lakers could not match the physical play of Davis.
Lakers power forward Pau Gasol got pushed out of the way on several plays as Davis was able to grab an offensive rebound late in the 4th and score with a foul.
Davis then screamed in exaltation, pushing his energy and the enthusiasm of the crowd to the limit.
Davis’ scoring to minutes played ratio, rebounding, and hustle were too much for the Lakers, and it bothered Phil Jackson, the Lakers head coach so much, that he refused to comment on defending Davis during the postgame press conference.
