Once a famous NBA player, Allen Iverson is going through tough times and is in a middle of a major fix. The player has announced that he is not planning to return to the Philadelphia 76ers. Furthermore, his wife, Tawanna Iverson has filed for divorce. Adding more worries is that Iverson is said to be battling issues with gambling and alcohol.
Iverson has already missed most of the games with the Sixers to be with his sick daughter, Messiah who is suffering from an undisclosed illness. Last Tuesday, on 2nd March, 2010 both Iverson and th Sixers mutually decided that he would not be returning to the franchise for the rest of the season. The joy of returning to his family was short lived as Tawanna filed the papers on the same day.
Adding more to his personal problems is his gambling and alcohol problems. Iverson is reportedly banned from the casinos at the Atlantic and Detroit City. Stephen A. Smith, a Phidelphia reporter has already published in his article that Iverson would “either drink himself into oblivion or gamble his life away.” The MVP (Most Valuable Player) award winner began his season with the Memphis Grizzlies but shifted to the Sixers after just three games. After playing 25 games with the 76ers, he took a leave of absence to attend to personal matters.
