Allen Iverson never seems to get off the front page. In recent developments, his wife, Tawanna Iverson has filed for divorce at the Fulton County Superior Court on grounds that their marriage is “irretrievably broken”.
Tawanna filed the papers the same day that Allen announced to his Philadelphia 76ers fans that he would not be returning for the rest of the ongoing season. Close sources say that Iverson was planning to call it quits from the NBA altogether after coming back from his retirement in December last year. Allen is survived by five children with the oldest daughter who is 15 years old and the youngest one being just 17 months old. Tawanna is seeking full custody of all five children which might result in a hefty sum of amount from the multimillionaire star for child support.
The former league MVP star has also been a scoring champion four times throughout his career, and has averaged 13.8 points from 28 games this season. He was playing for the Memphis before announcing his brief-retirement. He was struggling to revive his old magic on-court however his arthritic knee injury kept re-surfacing from time to time. Iverson has been playing since being picked up in the 1996 NBA draft. He helped the Sixers clinch the 2001 NBA tournament win and was also declared the MVP for the same season.
