Stan Van Gundy, Orlando Magic coach, has refuted having any issues with forward Rashard Lewis. Lewis refused to re-enter the court in the second quarter while playing against Utah on Thursday, 10th December, 2009. But the Magic coach is regarding this as a ‘one-time’ thing and believes Lewis made this decision in benefit of the team.
Van Gundy says that he knows Lewis well and has no doubt that he has done this knowing that his replacement was playing well. “He had thoughts and thought that was what was best for the team. One thing I have confidence in with him all the time – even if I disagree with him as I did at the time – he is thinking about the team. He isn’t thinking about himself,” said Van Gundy while refusing to regard Lewis’ act as his rebelliousness.
Van Gundy also added, “I’m not going to blow that out of proportion. If I got along with everyone else in my life as well as Rashard, then I would be in good shape.” After the game, both had a talk with each other to have a clear understanding about the matter.
