Marquis Daniels had a career year last year statistically in Indiana. He is a unique player, able to play and guard three different positions. He is also a smart player who does not make mistakes.
When he became available in the offseason, Celtics general manager Danny Ainge could not pass up on Daniels’ services. He was signed as a free agent late in the summer, and added more depth to a stellar group of guards on the Celtics roster.
Although his natural position is shooting guard, Daniels has gotten a lot of ball handling duties for the Celtics. This has allowed streaky shooter Eddie House to play shooting guard and not worry about handling the ball.
Daniels’ defense has also gone unnoticed. He is very versatile being both physical and quick on defense.
Celtics fans thought Rasheed Wallace was the best addition to the roster but Daniels has surprised them. After the season is over, re-signing Daniels should be a top priority for Celtics management.
