The Golden State Warriors coach Don Nelson is sick with pneumonia and will not travel with his team to Texas where the Warriors are expected to play 2 games. Nelson is currently on his best with being second-best in the number of wins recorded for any coach in the history of NBA. The coach will miss the bench for the game against Dallas Mavericks and the San Antonio Spurs.

The latest season has been very tiring for the 69 year old coach who is taking in all the blame for the teams’ missed successes with a young rooster. He has already named the current team as one of the most difficult one to coach so far. The veteran also got into a verbal battle with Mont Ellis at a game in New York earlier this month. The warriors consecutively lost 3 times, with finally winning against the Portland Trail Blazers at home ground by 108-94 on 20th November 2009.

The team management has reported that Nelson’s condition will be reviewed on 27th November, 2009 after which any further statements could be made. Currently the team is being coached under assistant coach Keith Smart. Nelson had expressed, earlier in September, about plans to serve the organization for the remaining 2 years on contract and probably get an extension of a year after that. But the current case might change those plans, only time can tell.
